Knaresborough Lions' annual Santa sleigh campaign has continued its tour across the town, bringing Father Christmas to doorsteps throughout December.
The sleigh officially launched on Friday (27th November) to coincide with the town’s ‘Bright Friday’ event.
The opening day included two static stops on Brimstone Drive and Swallowtail Way, offering families an early chance to meet Santa and take festive photos.
Since then, the Lions have begun their nightly routes, with volunteers reporting strong turnouts despite wintry weather.
Last night (1st December) Santa and his elves visited Hay-a-Park from around 5.30pm, before moving across the road to the town’s new estate, and then on to Orchard Close.
The group thanked residents for the warm welcome and said it was “fab to see so many smiling faces,” even in the rain.
Knaresborough Lions announced that tonight’s tour will begin at Knaresborough Cricket Club on Aspin Lane at around 6pm, with plans to move through the Abbey Crags and Rievaulx Avenue areas.
Residents are encouraged to listen out for festive music as a sign that the sleigh is approaching.
The sleigh is run entirely by volunteers and routes are confirmed daily based on volunteer availability, weather conditions and logistical factors.
To ensure Santa reaches as many neighbourhoods as possible, this year’s campaign also includes static sleigh visits, particularly on expanding housing estates.
During these appearances, the sleigh remains at a set point rather than travelling door to door, allowing families to visit Santa at their convenience.
Families with sensory or other needs can request lowered music levels or a calmer approach at any time, with volunteers ready to adapt the experience.
