A team of talented footballers from Saltergate Schools in Harrogate have been named regional champions.
The Saltergate girls team travelled to Newcastle today (Tuesday) to contest the regional final.
Sporting Harrogate Town shirts, the girls were able to beat Newcastle 1-0 in a “nail-biting” match.

The competition is hosted by the The Premier League Primary Stars Programme and supported by Newcastle United Foundation.
And following their victory, the team posed with the Premier League trophy, displaying the blue and white colours of current champions Manchester City.
A spokesperson for Saltergate Schools said:
“There was some great determination, resilience and skill on show including some fantastic goals, a penalty save and fabulous defending.
“We are so proud of all the girls.”
The team will now go on to contest the National Finals at Wolverhampton Stadium on 12th June.
