A number of youngsters from a Ripon performance academy are set to bring School of Rock to Harrogate Theatre this weekend.
40 children from Upstage Academy, aged 8-17, will perform Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway hit on Saturday (19th July) from 7pm.
The academy has a custom-built venue on Queen Street in Ripon, made up of three studios.
Past pupils have gone on to leading performing arts school in the world, including LAMDA, Italia Conti and Guilford school of acting.
A tagline for this weekend’s show reads:
“Are you ready to rock? Grab your air guitar, pull out your best knee slide and unleash your inner rock god!”
Upstage Academy undertakes three competitive festivals yearly and are the current champions of five years of The Harrogate Competitive Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.
The academy has been selected by both Harrogate and Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts to represent them in the regional championships in September.
It currently has nearly 200 students and runs 20 classes per week.
