Ripon City Council has praised the city's fire crews for their "tireless" work in helping to fight the Langdale Moor fire.
The fire started near RAF Fylingdales on 11th August and has covered an area of around 10 sq miles.
Managing the blaze has required the services of crews from across Yorkshire - and Ripon City Council have expressed their gratitude for the city’s firefighters.
A spokesperson said:
“On behalf of the people of Ripon, I want to express my deepest thanks to the incredible crews from Ripon Fire Station for their tireless work fighting the Langdale Moor fire.
"Your bravery, dedication, and professionalism in the face of challenging conditions are truly admirable.
“We are proud of you along with other firefighters from North Yorkshire Fire Brigade and grateful for your unwavering commitment to keeping our communities and countryside safe.”
Roads around the blaze have started to reopen, with the A171 between Whitby and Scarborough and the B1416 now usable - with safety measures in place.
There is still no update on how the fire started.
At a press conference last week, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Chief Fire Officer Jonathan Dyson said:
"The cause of the fire is still ongoing and will be reported in due course."
He also confirmed there has been no loss of life, injuries to staff or loss of property, despite the scale of the blaze.
A fundraising campaign to support the firefighters tackling the fire has raised £70,000.
