The reopening date of a historic coaching inn near Knaresborough has been revealed.
The General Tarleton is set to reopen its doors on 29th August - and is already taking bookings.
The reopening follows an extensive renovation project led by Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks and his newly established hospitality group, Jeopardy Hospitality.
He said:
“Thank you to everyone who has worked on this project. It is going to be so special.
“Restoring this beautiful old coaching Inn back to its former glory has been a big job but a mission that will be incredibly worthwhile.
“It is heartbreaking seeing all the hospitality businesses closing at the moment and I hope the reopening of the General Tarleton will be good news for everyone.”
The restoration of the 18th-century inn aims to ‘balance tradition with a modern hospitality experience’, including a revamped bar area, updated dining spaces and newly refurbished guest rooms.
Plans for the reopened General Tarleton include a focus on both community engagement and destination dining.
The venue will offer a diverse menu featuring seasonal British dishes such as pies, whole fish, soufflés, and Sunday roasts.
A midweek set menu will also be available, with two courses priced at £26 and three courses at £30.
Tommy added:
“The aim is to create a busy pub rooted in community and be a great destination for people to visit and stay too.
“Somewhere you can come for a pint, a midweek meal, a special family occasion or a date night! We just want it to be a proper hospitality venue.
“We have created a great bar space just for drinking cozy tables for family dining, a beautiful light conservatory and the Barn which will be awesome for events and private dining.
“The rooms have had a beautiful make over ready for a cozy getaway.”
The project marks the first initiative under Jeopardy Hospitality, which aims to revitalise struggling or closed hospitality venues across the country.
