North Yorkshire Police has acted on concerns raised by Spofforth residents following a recent community drop-in session.
The force’s local Neighbourhood team carried out mobile speed checks and parking enforcement in Spofforth yesterday (Sunday).
Two officers attended with hand-held speed detection devices and over 1,000 vehicles were checked going through the village.
A police spokesperson said:
“We are happy to report only nine vehicles were over the speed limit; the registered keepers will received notification in the next few days.”
A third officers was out enforcing parking violations, with seven Traffic Offence Reports issued for parking in dangerous positions at a junction or mini-roundabout or unnecessary obstruction of the pavement.
The spokesperson added:
“We are planning to attend Spofforth again in the next couple of weeks and would like to remind all residents to ensure they are parking in a safe position away junctions and to stay within the speed limit of the village.”
