An original poster from the only Beatles gig ever held in Harrogate has fetched thousands of pounds at auction.

The poster is for the Fab Four’s show at Harrogate’s Royal Hall on March 8th 1963. It was the only concert the band ever played in Harrogate. They were supported by two local bands, The Apaches and The Mustangs. And the poster fetched a whopping £3,000 at auction at Tennants Auctioneers last Friday (8th December). One of the members of The Apaches had kept the poster from the night, and it was purchased in the 1980s by the vendor from a picture framer in Harrogate. Also selling well was a copy of the White Album by The Beatles, autographed by Paul McCartney, which sold for £1,800. The album was purchased by the vendor in 1968 from Wilson’s in Norwich, but he was able to get it signed by his musical hero in 2001 visited the University of East Anglia where he worked.
