Two opticians have raised £986 after hiking 26 miles across Yorkshire’s coast on Saturday (12th July).
Katherine Friis from Ripon Specsavers and her friend Nina, who is a lecturer at Teesside University, took on the Trek26 challenge organised by Alzheimer’s Society.
The friends have known each other for 13 years and decided to take on the challenge after Nina’s dad was diagnosed with dementia last year.
They completed the scenic trek starting from Whitby, heading south through Robin Hood's Bay, looping through Ravenscar, and then returning along the coastal path back to Whitby – all within 12 hours.
It was part of a wider event run by the charity, and the event itself has raised £341,324 so far.
If you’d like to support Katherine and Nina, donations are welcome via the link to their Just Giving page, here: www.justgiving.com/page/katherine-friis
