North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has been rated 'Good' following a recent inspection.
The service was rated ‘Good’ in six out of eleven key areas by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
The inspection highlights improvements in fire risk understanding, incident prevention, as well as emergency response.
Notably, the service improved in areas previously rated as ‘Inadequate’ in 2022, such as efficiency and workforce management.
Chief Fire Officer Jonathan Dyson credited the hard work of staff and recent financial investments for the progress, emphasising a commitment to continued improvement.
The report also praised the service for being one of only 11 to avoid a ‘Requires Improvement’ rating in any area.
His Majesty’s Inspector of Fire and Rescue Services Michelle Skeer said:
“The service has embraced change and made significant progress since our last inspection in 2022."
With further investment and ongoing improvements, the service remains dedicated to enhancing safety across York and North Yorkshire.
