New ward-based library introduced at Harrogate Hospital

A library has been introduced to benefit longer-stay patients at Harrogate Hospital.

A new ward-based library has been introduced for patients at Harrogate and District Hospital.

The initiative was developed by Ward Clerk Lorna Blissett, who created a Book Trolley which gives patients access to a wide range of donated books.

The library has been created to support the wellbeing of patients with longer hospital stays.

A spokesperson for Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust said:

“The idea emerged in response to the challenges experienced by many patients, including low mood, isolation, and the effects of prolonged hospital stays.

“With support from Harrogate Hospital & Community Charity and our Infection Prevention Control team, the ward library is already making a positive difference for patients and staff.”
