A new beginners' pilates course is set to launch in Harrogate this January, offering an introduction to mat-based pilates in a small group.
Classical Pilates Harrogate will run for five weeks at Brostoff Hall in St Peter’s Church.
Classes will take place on Thursdays from 11:30am to 12:30pm, starting on 15th January and running until 12th February.
Sessions will be led by teacher and Harrogate resident Julie Downes, who holds a Diploma in Level 3 Mat Pilates.
The course is designed to be accessible to those with no prior experience of pilates and will focus on fundamental movements and techniques.
The aim is to introduce participants to the core principles of classical mat pilates, with an emphasis on correct form, breathing and control.
Sessions are structured to allow beginners to build confidence and understanding at a steady pace.
Course teacher Julie said:
“This course is really for anyone who has either never done pilates before, or for people who may have felt intimidated by pilates classes in the past.
“A lot of people are curious about pilates but worry they won’t be able to keep up, or that they’re not doing the movements correctly. This course is designed to remove that pressure.
“We’ll be starting right from the basics, taking the time to learn the correct technique and build strong foundations in a supportive environment.
“By breaking things down and focusing on clear instruction, participants can develop confidence in their movement, understand how pilates is meant to feel and progress at a pace that suits them."
The full course is charged at £38 for five classes.
Places are limited due to the size of the venue. Participants will need to bring their own mat.
