New gardening weekend heading to RHS Garden Harlow Carr

New: Wildlife Gardening Weekend is coming to RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr is inviting visitors to celebrate the 'beauty and importance' of wildlife-friendly gardening at its brand-new Wildlife Gardening Weekend.

Taking place on 2nd and 3rd May, the new event aims to highlight how sharing our outdoor spaces with nature can 'bring joy, enhance wellbeing, and provide vital habitats and resources for wildlife.'

Throughout the weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to discover practical tips and inspiration for supporting wildlife in their gardens at home.

Several local wildlife organisations will be joining the event to share their expertise, offer advice and showcase their important conservation work.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet representatives from both the North Yorkshire Bat Group and Yorkshire Dragonfly Group and learn more about the work of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire, and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

Visitors can also take part in guided garden walks, exploring the rich diversity of species found across RHS Harlow Carr’s beautiful landscape.

RHS experts will lead nature walks, including dedicated butterfly and bird walks, offering a closer look at the garden’s thriving ecosystems.

Families are warmly welcomed, with Nature House hosting a range of engaging children’s activities designed to inspire the next generation of nature lovers.

Alongside the wildlife celebrations, the annual RHS Spring Competition will be in full swing, featuring stunning displays of tulips, daffodils, and rhododendrons.

This much-loved competition showcases the very best of spring horticulture and provides a vibrant highlight for visitors.

Join us for a weekend of discovery, inspiration, and celebration of the natural world at RHS Garden Harlow Carr.
