Knaresborough residents have praised Tinsel Town as a 'light-hearted, feel-good' Christmas film after an exclusive early screening last night.
The first showing took place at the Frazer Theatre last night (Tuesday), with another due tomorrow (Thursday). Both events sold out.
The festive comedy, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson, was partially filmed in Knaresborough and Wetherby earlier this year.
Visitors headed to the Frazer Theatre hoping to see familiar landmarks on the big screen and left the theatre 'smiling and laughing.'
One resident said:
“10/10 plus! It was better than we thought! It was lighthearted, funny, there were loads of lovely views of Knaresborough and it looked fabulous.”
Another added:
“Rebel Wilson does a good Yorkshire accent!”
A third described the film as “ridiculous but really good fun,” adding:
“My favourite bit was definitely the fight, we loved it!”

A fourth resident said:
“It was lovely to see bits of Knaresborough, it was a feel-good Christmas movie, and we saw a bit more of Knaresborough than I thought we’d see.”
Rebel Wilson said she had fond memories of filming in the region.
She said:
“I loved my time up in Yorkshire. It was very cold because we filmed the movie in February, but the people there were so welcoming, I just had a great time.”
John Pearce, Vice Chairman of Knaresborough Players, said hosting the preview had been a highlight for the theatre and the town.
He said:
“It was a really great night and it was a really lovely event to put on for Knaresborough. Everyone walking out is smiling and laughing and I think it’s been a wonderful night.”
Tinsel Town is due for wider release on Friday (5th December) and will be available on Sky Cinema.
