Yorkshire favourite Bettys looks to have snatched the crown once again for stocking the most expensive Easter egg in the UK.
Bettys’ aptly named ‘Grande Easter Egg’, which has a whopping 31,000 calories, is available for a cool £395.
It weighs 5.4kg, contains 5kg of chocolate and is 55cm tall.
It also provides 576 calories per 100g, meaning scoffing one Grande Easter Egg is the equivalent to snacking on 58 bags of Mini Eggs.
The product is made to order and is only available for collection from one of Bettys shops across Yorkshire.
Bettys describes the egg online:
“Containing over five kilos of Grand Cru Swiss chocolate made from prized Venezuelan criollo cocoa beans, the Grande Easter Egg is a true work of art, showcasing the highest skills of our chocolatiers and cake decorators.
“Each Grande Easter Egg carries an array of delicate, individually crafted spring blooms and foliage including primroses, narcissi and pansies, with hand-piped stems as a final perfect touch.”
Easter egg costs have soared by 46% this year according to data from Saxo.
The second most expensive egg in the UK is believed to be by luxury chocolatiers Cocoba, costing £225 and weighing 4kg.
