An iconic pub in Knaresborough has been shortlisted at the Great British Pub Awards.

The annual awards recognise and reward the best pubs from across the UK, dubbed the “Oscars of the pub industry.”

And Blind Jack's on Market Place has been named as a finalist in the ‘Best Beer Pub’ category.

It’s one of six pubs vying for the award, including Granville’s Beer & Gin House in Horsforth and the Riverhead Brewery Tap in Marsden.

A spokesperson for Blind Jack's said:

“This recognition is a testament to our dedication to quality ales and specialty beer offering, a welcoming atmosphere, and the support of our fantastic community.”

The awards will take place on Wednesday 24th September 2025 at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds.

Blind Jack's in Knaresborough opened in 1991, whilst the building itself dates back to 1741.

The pub is named after John Metcalf, a famous local figure known as "Blind Jack," a road builder who was blind.
