Harrogate teenager Harry Gray scored his first senior goal last night (Tuesday) to inspire Rotherham United's to their first league victory since November.

The 17-year-old scored the equaliser as the Millers ended an 11-match winless run with a 2-1 victory over Northampton Town at the New York Stadium.

Harry, who attended St Aidan’s CE High School and is the younger brother of Archie of Tottenham Hotspur, helped ease the pressure on manager Matt Hamshaw after a period that had seen Rotherham slip to second bottom in the League Two table.

In a review of the match, The Rotherham Advertiser heaped praised on Harry, giving him a rating of 7/10.

Paul Davis wrote:

“The Leeds United kid came to life for a spell in the second half and showed why there’s so much noise about him at Elland Road.

“He’s a proper footballer. What a player the 17-year-old will be when he’s a few pounds heavier and a few games wiser."

The visitors had taken the lead through former Rotherham striker Tom Eaves, before Harry, on loan from Leeds United until the end of the season and making only his third senior start, rose to head home a Joe Powell corner in the 58th minute.

The Millers completed the turnaround late on when debutant Emmanuel Adegboyega headed in another dangerous Powell set-piece.
