A Harrogate teenager has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European Weightlifting Federation Championships in Madrid.
14-year-old Ella Henrey, a pupil at Queen Ethelburga’s College, was introduced to weightlifting at 10 years old when she first started CrossFit at her local gym.
It was there she met her coach, Jack Dobson, a previous English and British Champion - and has been training with him ever since.
Ella is the current British under-15 champion in her weight category and hopes to place in the top 5 at Europeans.
She said:
“It’s such an honour to be chosen to represent my country.
“I’m looking forward to watching all my teammates in other categories and cheering them on and enjoying the sunshine in Madrid!”
The under-15 European Weightlifting Federation Championships are being held in Madrid from 23rd until 30th July.
