The jubilation following England Women's stunning Euro 2025 victory has reached every corner of the country, and in Harrogate, it has ignited fresh inspiration among local players and fans alike.
Katie Taylor and Amy Hood of Harrogate Town Ladies spoke to Your Harrogate following the Lionesses’ historic win, praising the team’s legacy while setting their sights on big ambitions closer to home.
Katie said:
“I think it’s incredible and there are so many opportunities now for young girls to get into football.
“It’s really important that the Lionesses have left that role model legacy — any girl now will know: if you can see it, you can be it.”
Taylor reflected on how far the women’s game has come, noting the shift in perceptions at grassroots level.
She added:
“It’s so refreshing now that you ask a young person who their favourite footballer is, and you don’t know if you’ll get a male or a female as a response.
“To think women’s football has only been professional for 13 or 14 years — I guess the sky’s the limit now.”

Her new teammate, Amy Hood, praised the united support across the country.
She said:
“We’ve just seen the diversity within the fan base, every single person is wanting to get behind England.
“It doesn’t matter whether it’s the Lionesses or the men — England is our team and our country.
“We just want to support them and see success across the board.”
With England’s success providing a national boost, Harrogate Town Ladies are eager to build on their own momentum.
Taylor expressed confidence in the team’s potential ahead of the new season - and their goal of promotion.
She said:
“We’re really ambitious. We want to get promoted and achieve big things as a club, and I think we’ve got the right group of people to do that.”
Highlighting the growing local appetite for the women’s game, she added:
“We played at the stadium last season and drew a crowd of just over 920 — that shows there is a passion for women’s football in Harrogate.
“It’s about continuing to grow that and show the town what we’re about and what we can achieve.”
With England crowned champions and women’s football more visible than ever, clubs like Harrogate Town Ladies are embracing the moment — and looking to turn inspiration into impact on and off the pitch.
