A Harrogate teacher has completed an epic 100km ultra marathon in memory of a former colleague.
Jamie Wilson, a Physics teacher at St Aidan’s High School, successfully completed a 100km ultramarathon along the Thames Path over the weekend.
He took on the Thames Path Ultra Challenge to fundraise for Neuroendocrine Cancer UK, in memory of his former colleague, Pete Edwards.
Pete, also a Physics teacher, died earlier this year aged 63 from a rare form of neuroendocrine cancer of the pancreas.
The ultramarathon route, about 62 miles (100km) long, follows the River Thames, a path Pete had himself run in previous years.
Mr Wilson set up a fundraising page for Neuroendocrine Cancer UK in his friend’s memory and has raised more than £4,000 at the time of publication.
A spokesperson for St Aidan’s High School said:
“What a huge achievement – we hope he’s finally putting his feet up and relaxing!
“A big thank you to all those who have donated to Mr Wilson’s JustGiving page. It's still open and further donations would be massively appreciated.
“Well done Mr Wilson – you are a legend!”
The JustGiving page remains open to further contributions here, with all funds directed to Neuroendocrine Cancer UK.
