A talented young swimmer from Harrogate has been selected to represent Team GB at the upcoming Skopje European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF).
15-year-old Lois Child of the Harrogate District Swimming Club is one of 54 athletes aged 13-18 selected to represent Team GB at the competition in North Macedonia.
Lois earned her selection following her 200m freestyle swim at the British Championships in April.
She was the fastest 14/15 year old female to compete, gaining automatic nomination to the team which was then confirmed by the British Olympic Association (BOA) and Aquatics GB.

In addition to the 200m freestyle, Lois will also be swimming in the 400m individual medley and 200m individual medley and will be considered for any relay teams.
Brian Charlton of Harrogate District Swimming club said:
"Huge congratulations, not only to Lois, but also to her family. Her parents Paul and Ali will be bursting with pride, as are the coaching team and the whole squad.
"Swimming is, in the main, an individual sport, but the wider team couldn't be prouder. It's the stuff of dreams.
"Swim fast Lois and we look forward to seeing you in all the kit!"
European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) gives swimmers an opportunity to be part of a festival with over 4,000 athletes from 48 countries.
Lois will travel with the other Team GB athletes and coaches to North Macedonia on Friday 21st July, with the competition running from 20th – 26th July.
