Harrogate scenic stroll named 'Walk of the Day'

A scenic stroll in Harrogate has been named as today’s Welcome to Yorkshire ‘Walk of the Day’.

A scenic stroll in Harrogate has been named as today’s Welcome to Yorkshire ‘Walk of the Day’. The route from Valley Gardens to RHS Harlow Carr is being highlighted as part of their ‘Walkshire’ campaign, encouraging us to stretch our legs and get out and about for a wander. Details of the walk are being shared via social media to Welcome to Yorkshire’s combined 700,000 followers, promoting the town to a huge audience of potential visitors as its tourism economy continues to recover following the pandemic. The campaign is being supported by local bus operator, the Harrogate Bus Company, whose services can get you to and from both ends of the walk.

Welcome to Yorkshire’s Director of Strategic Delivery James Mackenzie said:

“At the start of 2021 we set out to share a Walk of the Day every day of this year, to inspire people to discover walks for all ages and abilities, from high level moorland to the heart of our towns and cities.

“The walk from Betty’s in Harrogate town centre offers an amazing variety of experiences for everyone, including the majestic floral wonders of the Valley Gardens, the shade and calm of the Pinewoods and finishing at RHS Harlow Carr, a delight at any time of the year and especially right now in Spring.

“The Harrogate Bus Company’s services, along with Transdev’s wider network of bus routes across Yorkshire, are an ideal way to enjoy a Walkshire linear walk without having to retrace your steps to a starting point. Using the bus also helps to protect Yorkshire’s environment for everyone, especially when it’s one of Harrogate’s electric buses.”

And for anyone who hasn’t done the walk before and wants to give it try, a fully illustrated guide and map is available online from today at https://www.yorkshire.com/walkshire/walk-of-the-day Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here
