Harrogate is the second most "crickety" town in England, according to a new survey.

The poll, Conducted by Gambling ‘N Go, gathered responses from 3,024 people across the country.

Towns were selected based on their cricketing heritage, local enthusiasm, and the role cricket plays in community identity.

Tunbridge Wells topped the list, while Arundel, Chipping Norton, and Chester-le-Street rounded out the top five.

Harrogate was praised for its traditional cricket atmosphere, well-maintained grounds, and knowledgeable spectators.

A spokesperson for Gambling ’N Go, who conducted the poll, said:

“Cricket in Harrogate has a quiet, graceful feel. The town’s club sits in a leafy corner, where well-kept greens create a perfect setting.

“Matches are proper affairs here - smart kits, competitive spirit, and spectators who know every stat going. It’s genteel, but fiercely proud.”

North Yorkshire featured prominently in the rankings, with Richmond placing sixth, followed by Whitby (11th), Ripon (43rd), Stokesley (53rd), and Thirsk (69th).
