A Harrogate school student has been recognised for a standout performance at one of cricket's most prestigious venues.
St Aidan’s CE High School pupil James Barraclough, who is in Year 10, represented the York MCC Hub Under-16 boys’ team at Lord’s over the weekend.
James, the youngest member of the squad and playing a year above his age group, opened the batting and went on to make 49 runs.
He also took two wickets and was named player of the match.
The match itself was closely contested, with York MCC Hub edging out their opponents in a game described by the school as “tight” and one that “could have gone either way.”
A spokesperson for the school said:
“The York MCC Hub Under 16 boys team won - it was a tight game that could have gone either way.
“We are very proud of you James!”
James faced both the first and final balls of the match.
