Vida Court, a specialist care home in Harrogate, has been awarded accreditation from the Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA), recognising its ability to support people living with Huntington’s disease (HD).
The accreditation is given to services that meet the HDA’s standards for care. HD is a complex condition with no UK-specific NICE guidelines and only limited international frameworks for support.
During the accreditation process, an initial assessment highlighted areas for improvement.
Vida Court staff worked with the HDA to address these points before a follow-up visit confirmed progress.
Bernadette Mossman, Healthcare Director at Vida Healthcare, said:
“I am very proud and humbled by the dedication, compassion and commitment shown by the Lindsay house team.
"They have supported the ladies and gentlemen living with HD experience high quality care in an environment that promotes independence, freedom of choice and improved quality of life."
According to the care home, staff skills and knowledge have developed as a result of the process, which has also led to improvements in outcomes for residents.

Amanda Whitehouse, Home Manager at Vida Court, said:
“The process isn’t simply about achieving accredited status. It’s about the day to day improvements in care and service delivery that happen along the way.
"The HDA team provide invaluable support, highlighting areas for development and guiding homes through the steps to achieve real, lasting change.”
Vida Court is part of Vida Healthcare, which provides specialist care for people with dementia and other complex conditions.
