Harrogate BID launches unique job opportunity for important town centre role Harrogate BID is hiring for a second Street Ranger to tackle important issues around Harrogate town centre. After extensive research with town centre businesses, the BID believes that the new addition will help it achieve its goals set out in its Business Plan. These include three objectives: ‘Pride in our town’, ‘A vibrant town’ and ‘Voice and Vision.’ The new Street Ranger will work alongside Chris Ashby, who currently works in a similar role, to make Harrogate as clean and attractive as possible. [caption id="attachment_103153" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Your Harrogate's Nick Hancock finds out more about the role from Street Ranger Chris Ashby.[/caption] Through both an online portal and verbal requests, the Street Ranger will have a variety of reactive tasks to respond to. These may involve jet washing or disinfecting the town’s hot spots, regular steam cleaning in high footfall areas and weeding and tidying in key locations. Responsibilities also include painting and upkeep of street furniture, removal of graffiti tags, jet washing business entrances or outside areas, carrying out weekly inspections to collate reports and repairing damage to levy payers’ properties. Street Ranger Chris Ashby said:
“You have to be able to deal with the public, who will ask questions about who you are and what you’re doing, and you also have to deal with our levy payers who pay our salaries. “It’s very varied and very enjoyable.
