Family-run Harrogate greengrocer listed for sale

Roots & Fruits has been listed for sale.

A family-run greengrocer and farm shop in Harrogate has been put up for sale.

Roots & Fruits, based on King Edward’s Drive, is being marketed by Alan J Picken with an asking price of £74,950.

The business has been owned by the same family since 2017 and is being sold due to ill health.

The shop has become well known locally for its fresh fruit and vegetables, many of which are sourced from regional growers.

Alongside its core produce, it also stocks plants throughout the year and Christmas trees during the festive season.

In recent years the business has introduced a refill scheme, encouraging customers to bring their own containers to cut down on single-use packaging.

According to the sales listing, the shop benefits from its location close to other local retailers and amenities, helping to attract regular passing trade.

It currently operates from Tuesday to Saturday, with scope to extend opening hours, and turns over £260,000.

Alan J Picken described the business as “an attractive proposition” for a new owner, highlighting the potential for further growth.
