Police have made an arrest following a fatal hit-and-run in Pateley Bridge that claimed the life of 19-year-old Bailey Chadwick.
Late last night (Thursday) a man in his 20’s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He is currently in police custody.
A police spokesperson said:
“Please note that the public should not speculate on social media to avoid prejudicing any potential future court proceedings."
The arrest follows a heartbreaking appeal from Bailey’s mum, Dayle Knight, and stepfather, Daniel Horler, earlier this week.
The incident happened on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses, as Bailey was walking home during the early hours of Sunday (20th July).
Police believe he was crossing the road when he was struck by a vehicle travelling west between 1.44am and 3.10am.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but the driver did not stop.
The police are continuing to appeal for information.
If you can help, email the Major Collision Investigation Team at mcit@northyorkshire.police.uk or call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 12250133851.
