Celebrate the 60th HACS Harrogate Music Festival

Between the 6th June and 12th July join Harrogate International Festivals for its 60th anniversary to listen to the shining stars of classical music.

The festival has previously attracted legendary names including Jacqueline du Pré, Dame Janet Baker, Sir Simon Rattle and Julian Lloyd Webber. The orchestras involved have made a lasting impact on the North of England; and this year, the festival will bring two major orchestras to the magnificent Royal Hall in Harrogate.

Aurora Orchestra, led by principal director Nicholas Collon, is a bold and innovative ensemble known for being the first orchestra in the world to perform entirely from memory, without music sheets. They are regular performers at the BBC Proms. Their programme for the festival includes Jessie Montgomery’s Strum, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A and Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 ‘Jupiter’.

The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra will perform on 5 July at the Royal Hall, and the concert will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Audience members will have the opportunity to hear violinist Hana Chang, a Classic FM Rising Star of 2024, alongside Ben Glassberg, one of the most sought-after conductors in the world. Together they will deliver a special programme featuring Farrenc’s Overture No. 1, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, widely regarded as his most significant symphony.

Other stars appearing at the festival include cellist Abel Selaocoe with his Bantu Ensemble on 6 June, and Grammy-nominated opera singer Davóne Tines on 12 June.

Mark Smith, Managing Director of The HACS Group, said:

“We have a long and proud association with Harrogate International Festivals and it’s a real honour to support this wonderful Music Festival that has become such a popular fixture in the town’s cultural calendar.

"Music entertains people and it brings them together, and looking at this brilliant line-up, I think we’re in for a real treat.”

More exciting additions to the line-up will be announced in the coming weeks.

Friends Priority tickets go on sale 11 March, with general tickets available from 18 March.
