We caught up with Nick Jarrett to find out more about PG Branding and get an insight into a business that has been around for more than 26 years.

Introducing: Nick Jarrett Company name: PG Branding Company website: https://pgbranding.com Social Media: @PgBranding

PG Branding were quick to jump to the aid of local community group Harrogate Scrubbers, printing for free to help them sew kit bags for Harrogate Town AFC. We caught up with Sales Director Nick Jarrett to find out more about PG Branding and get an insight into a business that has been around for more than 26 years...

When was the company founded?

The company has been around since 1994 but in 2016 we were part of a management buyout. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength, gaining new staff members and customers and are looking forward to continuing in the same way.

Why do you stand out from your competition?

Within our industry you have the usual big companies at the top where every order is a number and at the bottom you have the one-man bands who are turning over enough to keep them comfortable.

We are in the fortunate position to be close to the top but still at a point where we are able to offer more of a consultative service. Our sales team know a lot about the industry and the products available to us.

We have a great sourcing network so if the customer has an idea of something a little off the wall, we are able to accommodate. We are also lucky enough to have our own in-house production and artwork team meaning that we can bring jobs in-house if our customer needs a smaller run or something more bespoke.

How has Covid affected your business and how have you coped?

Our main area of business is providing companies and organisations goods branded with their company logo or message. These items are usually used at conferences, events, festivals, corporate golf days etc so as you can imagine we’ve been hit pretty hard by the pandemic.

PPE is something we have always sold as part of our Health & Safety and workwear ranges but during the past year it has been our main seller and honestly what has kept the business going! You wouldn’t believe how excited we are at the prospect of going back to selling pens and more normal things!

Who would you most like to have a drink with and why?

At this present time… any of my friends or family!

In more ‘normal’ circumstances it would be Robert De Niro! I’m a massive fan and definitely think it would be amazing to listen to his stories over a few drinks.

What advice would you give to the next generation and why?

If the current pandemic has taught us anything it’s to have balance! I never thought I would be where I am - part of the management team running a successful company.

I got there through hard work and dedication but there has to be balance. Enjoy the small things, family and friends are important!

Why do you like doing business in Yorkshire?

Well, I’m originally from Shropshire but have been in Yorkshire longer so I like to think of myself as an honorary Yorkshire man (and I make amazing Yorkshire Puddings!).

I feel like I can honestly say the county is beautiful, has so much to offer for families and business, the people are really friendly and you just can’t beat Harrogate! Working with local businesses is also great as we drop in and get a real feel for what the client wants, show them samples etc.

Name your favourite local business and what makes them special?

It would have to be Fodder. The whole family loves it! We do a ‘Fodder on the Hoof’ stop mid-way through a walk or treat of cooked breakfast when the café is open.

They do amazing BBQ packs and their Peri-Peri spatchcock chicken is amazing! They do all of the above whilst supporting local farmers and are a non-profit. Can’t get any better than that really!
