Why Speedo Mick is walking through Harrogate in just his swimming trunks

There will be a man walking through Harrogate in just his swimming trunks today to raise money for a worthwhile cause.

There will be a man walking through Harrogate in just his swimming trunks today (Friday). But no need to be alarmed - that's Speedo Mick, a 57-year-old from Liverpool who is walking across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK to raise money for charity. Speedo Mick, whose real name is Michael Cullen, is aiming to raise £250,000 for the SpeedoMick Foundation which helps relieve poverty and improve education, mental health and physical health. He's been on a walk across the region and will be stopping off in Harrogate as part of the six-month tour. After Harrogate he'll be walking though Masham, Richmond and Newcastle. Mick will be completing his walk in his hometown of Liverpool on 13th December. The 57-year-old, who has suffered from addiction and depression, said:

"The reason I’m doing the tour is to 'give back' to the people and the communities who have supported me in the past. "I know how hard it is to come out on the other side. In my life, I’ve been in some dark, lonely, hopeless places. "For me, one of the most rewarding parts of my fundraising has been to help people facing what I have faced."
