A banned driver who led police on a high speed chase through Harrogate and Leeds has been jailed for dangerous driving.

A banned driver who led police on a high speed chase through Harrogate and Leeds has been jailed. Police have released the footage of 32-year-old Jamil Rabbani, who recklessly and dangerously rode his motorcycle on the wrong side of the road. He also drove at pedestrians, on the pavement, through red lights and towards oncoming traffic, as well as on The Stray. The offender eventually abandoned his motorcycle in Chapeltown, Leeds before a police helicopter helped track him down. It was said that he had been to Harrogate to sell his motorbike and had panicked when the police tried to pull him over at the start of the chase. He was jailed for 18 months at York Crown Court and banned from driving for a further 45 months. He must take an extended driving test before driving alone again.
