Police have issued Covid fines to two men who said they 'were out for a drive' and went to McDonald's in Knaresborough. The pair were spotted by officers at St James Retail Park in the town at around 12.45am in the early hours of Monday morning. They had come from Hessle, near Hull, which is over 60 miles away from Knaresborough. Officers issued them both with a fixed penalty notice for breaking Coronavirus restrictions, for 'being outside their place of living'. Meanwhile, new figures show police issued a total of 12 Covid fines in the Harrogate district last week, out of a total of 102 across North Yorkshire as a whole (8th-14th March). Since the coronavirus pandemic began a year ago, North Yorkshire Police have now given out a total of 3,555 fixed penalty notices across the county for breaking restrictions.
