TV personality announced as patron for Ripon charity

TV personality and ex-politician Gyles Brandreth has been announced as a patron of Ripon charity Jennyruth Workshops. The workshop, which trains adults with learning difficulties in a wide variety of skills, welcomed Gyles and his wife Michele for a visit back in 2017. And now Jennyruth have announced that "kind-hearted" Gyles has agreed to become a patron after showing his support for the charity over the years. A spokesperson for the charity said via Twitter:

"Gyles is a kind-hearted man who has shown our charity a huge amount of support over the years, which is why we couldn't be happier to announce that he has agreed to become one of our Patrons!"

"I couldn't be prouder! Jennyruth Workshops is a small charity doing wonderful work with a great group of lovely people near Ripon. Michele and I have seen what they create and it's amazing. So are they!"

Jennyruth Workshops is a registered charity and social enterprise based in Ripon, North Yorkshire, where adults with learning disabilities are trained in a wide variety of skills.

The workers produce and sell a range of quality gifts and products, developing craft skills in woodwork, painting, needlework, metalwork and card-making. This is supported by a continuous and personalised training programme in numeracy, literacy, IT and communication skills.
