Tractor relay in memory of young farmer to pass through Harrogate today A tractor relay will pass through Harrogate today as part of a mental health campaign in memory of 22-year-old farmer Len Eadon. Len took his own life on New Year’s Day in 2022. And in his memory, Len’s parents Andy and Lynda have organised an awareness mission in the form of a month-long tractor relay, travelling 2,000 miles across the country. The relay is due to pass through Harrogate after 1pm this afternoon after travelling through Skipton, and will head towards York where it will stop overnight. More than 1,000 people from across the farming community turned up to show their support on the day and were invited to join Len’s parents on the journey to raise awareness. The challenge started at John O’Groats on 20th June and has been journeying south, with the intention of travelling 2,000 miles and reaching Lands’ End on 20th July. Their intention is to zig-zag across the country to visit livestock markets, agricultural shows and machinery depots to spread their message that "non one in the rural community should feel alone or isolated." Speaking on the Your Harrogate Podcast, Andy Eadon said:
"It was January 1st 2022. Unfortunately there were no warnings. We’re so passionate to get youngsters to talk and be aware of how they are and how their friends are. "Our message coming down the country is that no one in the rural community should feel alone or isolated."Lynda added:
"The statistics are quite shocking. More people die from taking their own life around the world than in armed combat. "The Tractor Run idea was Andy’s last summer and it’s amazing how far its spread."The relay will also travel through Westminster on 6th July.
