Supermarket giant Tesco has acquired Booths in Ripon.
Booths, a family-owned supermarket, has been in place on Marshall Way since June 2009.
The acquisition means Booths now has 25 stores across the north, including in Ilkley and Settle.
Ripon BID Manager Lilla Bathurst said:
"Ripon BID extends its sincere thanks to Booths for their long-standing investment and valued contribution to our city.
"Their presence has been an important part of Ripon’s retail landscape.
"At the same time, we welcome the news that leading global retailer Tesco has acquired the site.
"This significant investment demonstrates confidence in Ripon’s continued growth and vitality.
"We look forward to building a strong working relationship with Tesco and supporting their successful integration into the local community."
She added:
"Ripon continues to thrive as a vibrant destination for both national retailers and independent businesses.
"The recent arrivals of Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Next, and the expansion of M&S, alongside a flourishing scene of independent shops and cafés, reflect the city's strong commercial appeal and resilient economy.
"Tesco’s decision to invest in Ripon is a clear endorsement of our city's potential and marks another positive step in its ongoing development."
