Stump Cross Caverns owner 'overwhelmed' as fundraiser edges towards final target

Stump Cross Caverns owner Lisa Bowerman said she has been "overwhelmed" as her 'Save the Cave' fundraiser edges towards its final target.

Stump Cross Caverns owner Lisa Bowerman said she has been "overwhelmed" by the support as her 'Save the Cave' fundraising campaign edges towards its final target. The campaign, which set out to raise £50,000 to save the business from going under, has now had more than 2,100 supporters and currently stands at £38,000 in donations. Lisa and husband Nick were forced to raffle off their VW Campervan to keep the business afloat and need to raise the full target before the end of March. Lisa said:

"To be honest I've been absolutely overwhelmed by the response. The support from people and the messages have been amazing, and the donations have ranged from £2 to our largest donation we've had which is £2,000. "People have been wishing us well and don't want us to close - they want to bring their families and can see why we're doing it. "It's just been absolutely amazing. I am still nervous because we've still got a way to go and if we don't get 100% of our target then it wont go ahead, but we're staying positive and believing we will do it. Until we get over that £50,000 mark I don't think I'll be able to breathe!"

She added:
"It's just so nice to be appreciated and know that people want it to work and want us to achieve our goal. It's really heartwarming and gives you the strength to continue. "Not everyone can afford to donate but it costs nothing to share, and a lot of people have done which is amazing."
