Storm Christoph: No Covid fines for people avoiding floods

North Yorkshire Police have said they will NOT be handing out Covid fines to residents who have been forced to stay with family or friends due to floods. Storm Christoph has caused flooded homes across the county, particularly in and around York, with some people forced to evacuate to a relative's house. And the police force have assured residents they will not be taking any action against those breaking lockdown rules due to the weather. "I would reassure the public that if you are having to take action to evacuate yourself from your own properties to go and stay with a family member then we wouldn't be looking to take enforcement action in those circumstances."
There are currently more than 40 weather warnings in place across Yorkshire, including in and around York, Northallerton, Thirsk, Pickering, Skipton, Boroughbridge, Ripon and Masham. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
