Road safety talks to continue online during lockdown

'Road Safety Talks', who provide presentations for kids around road safety, will continue spreading their all-important message via the power of Zoom during lockdown.

Lauren Doherty was involved in a life-changing accident twelve years ago and has since been sharing her message to schools and other groups around the dangers of road safety.

And being unable to make her presentations in person, Lauren has vowed to 'brush up on her technology skills' and give the talks online.

Speaking via her social channels, Lauren said:

"When Covid put a stop to our visits and presentations last year, like many, we were determined that it wasn’t going to stop us! Accidents and incidents on the roads don’t stop during lockdown.

"As the saying goes, out of adversity comes opportunity and with the power of Zoom (and us brushing up on our technology skills!) it has enabled us to carry on regardless, and also expand the project, by now delivering our Road Safety presentations right across the country."

Lauren's story

Twelve years ago, Lauren was involved in a life-changing road traffic accident, which left her paralysed and needing round-the-clock care. Via her website roadsafetytalks.co.uk, Lauren spoke of her accident and the effect it has had on her life:
"I don’t know what made me cross the road at the wrong time, but I crossed the road without looking and taking due care and attention. "I was hit by a van, was left completely paralysed and need everything doing for me.  I have 2 carers with me at all times and have had to accept that this is my life now. "I hope to benefit others in demonstrating that just because you have had an accident and you are in a wheelchair, your life isn’t over."
Having experienced the devastation that a lack of concentration could cause, Lauren wanted others to learn the consequences of road safety. https://www.facebook.com/roadsafetytalks/posts/974114906450299 If you would like your School or Group to receive a Road Safety Talks presentation, get in touch with Lauren via email: roadsafetytalk@gmail.com or call Rebecca on 07912303489 and they will be happy to arrange a date.
