Ripon BID lobbies for financial support for local businesses after 'Plan B' announcement

Ripon BID is lobbying for financial support for businesses and has asked for feedback on the impact of the government's 'Plan B'.

Ripon Business Improvement District (BID) is lobbying for financial support for local businesses and has asked for feedback on the impact of the government's 'Plan B' announcement. The BID is supporting a business booster campaign that aims to address consumer confidence affecting hospitality, leisure and retail businesses. And in a letter to Ripon BID members, Assistant Manager Lilla Bathurst has asked for business owners to share, in confidence, how they have been affected. Lilla Bathurst said:

"We know that the latest Plan B announcements and the uncertainty around the Omicron variant are damaging consumer confidence and we have been told by several businesses that they are considerably down on retail sales, bookings and takings following this weekend. "The BID fully supports the need to protect the NHS during this extremely challenging time, however, we feel that businesses also need to be supported."
Ripon BID plan to compile a report on how local businesses have been affected and share this with Skipton and Ripon MP Julian Smith. The letter continues:
"It would be really helpful for us to have an understanding of how the Plan B announcements are affecting Ripon’s hospitality, leisure and retail businesses. "We would ask that you share with us the impact on your business so that we are able to feed this back. "Any information you provide will be shared in confidence however it would be extremely useful for the BID to have a clearer understanding of the impact on Ripon’s businesses."
