PREVIEW: Harrogate Town CEO dreaming of FA Cup glory

Harrogate Town's Chief Executive Officer is allowing herself to dream ahead of the club's FA Cup tie this weekend.

Harrogate Town's Chief Executive Officer is allowing herself to dream ahead of the club's FA Cup tie this weekend. Harrogate Town travel to Portsmouth tomorrow (Saturday) with hopes of reaching the competition's third round for the first time. And Sarah Barry, the newly appointed CEO at the club, believes a win will be huge for both the club and the town as a whole. She told Your Harrogate:

"I’m really excited to go and actually, I hope I’m not jinxing it, our away form is really good at the minute!

"It would be a first for us but I like to take one match at a time. I think we can do it, why can’t we?"

"It lifts the spirits of everybody associated with the club, and for the town, it puts harrogate on the map and creates a buzz - but we don’t get too carried away."

Since her appointment, Sarah has prioritised attracting younger families to the club - whilst also appreciating the die-hard fans that travel around the country to watch the team. And following some record home numbers at The EnviroVent Stadium, Sarah believes the club are moving in the right direction. She said:

"The numbers are there and are consistently growing week by week. We’ve already seen record numbers of home fans and it wasn’t a blip - we’ve been continually improving those numbers every match.

"A lot of supporters have a first team, whether that be locally or one of the bigger London-based clubs, so we’re totally realistic about it.

"There’s no point denying that Harrogate Town has not been around as long as some of these bigger clubs.

"We’re trying to reach the new generation of younger families and younger children."
