Police have handed out more than 330 Covid fines since the start of December to people in North Yorkshire.
Supt Mike Walker, the officer in charge of North Yorkshire Police's Covid response, told BBC Radio York:
[caption id="attachment_5212" align="alignnone" width="1776"] North Yorkshire Police have issued over 330 fines since the start of December 2020.[/caption]"Between the start of December 2020 to the start of January 2021 we issued 334 fines just for indoor gatherings - so it's people going to other people's houses that they don't live with."
Supt Walker added that some people across the area "do not seem to particularly care there's a worldwide pandemic" when flouting rules:
"The seriousness of the situation, the spread of the virus in the city of York and across North Yorkshire is exceptionally serious.
"We're seeing more people in hospital and more deaths, so I'm asking people to think twice before they leave the house.
"It's very much a stay-at-home message."
