New vaccination centre opening in York today

A new vaccination centre is due to open in York today and will be just a short drive from Harrogate. The new centre will be in the the park-and-ride at Askham Bar, just off the A64 in York, and is one of 10 new mass vaccination sites opening across England today (Monday 18th January). Vaccinations are currently being administered at the Yorkshire Event Centre at the Great Yorkshire Showground, however it is expected some people in the Harrogate District will be directed to the new centre to step up the number of vaccinations taking place. People should note that this is NOT a drive-through vaccination process. This new Vaccination Centre will serve thousands more priority patient groups from across the region, but people should wait to be invited before attending. The nine other new centres opening from today are: Bournemouth International Centre Taunton Racecourse in Somerset Blackburn Cathedral in Lancashire Salt Hill Activity Centre in Slough Norwich Food Court in Norfolk The Lodge in Wickford, Essex Princess Royal Sports Arena in Lincolnshire St Helens Rugby Ground in Merseyside Olympic Office Centre in Wembley, North London Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
