Man arrested in connection with knocking down police officer

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident in Harrogate in which a police officer was knocked down by a car.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident in Harrogate in which a police officer was knocked down by a car. The man, who has not yet been named, has been charged with three offences including causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified. He is due to appear in Harrogate Magistrates today. The police officer, who was approaching a suspicious vehicle on Bewerley Road on Tuesday afternoon, was knocked down by the car and suffered a fractured knee cap before undergoing surgery. He remains in hospital at this time. The 35-year-old man and 24-year-old woman who were arrested previously have been released on conditional bail. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
