Luxury retailer donates £2,500 from face mask sales to Harrogate charity

Brora in Harrogate has donated £2,500 from sales of face masks to support the work of the Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP).

Brora in Harrogate has donated £2,500 from sales of its face masks to support the work of Harrogate based charity, the Harrogate Easier Living Project (HELP).

To support communities affected by Covid-19, over 50% of the sale of each Liberty print face mask has been donated to charities across the UK. To date, over £250,000 has been raised for good causes through Brora’s face mask sales.

HELP, alongside Harrogate Homeless Project, were nominated by the Harrogate store to receive a share of the funds. This donation will help fund the charity’s ‘Here to HELP’ Covid-19 response service, providing practical and emotional support to people in Harrogate and Ripon struggling at home during the pandemic.

This well-established Harrogate charity, which provides services aimed at promoting independence and tackling loneliness, has seen a huge rise in demand during Covid-19.

Since March its volunteer army has assisted with nearly 5,000 calls for assistance with shopping, prescription pick-ups and phone befriending. At the same some of its opportunities for fundraising, such as through face-to-face events, have been cancelled.

Victoria Stapleton, Founder & Creative Director of Brora, said:

"So many of our communities across the UK have been really impacted by Covid-19. We felt it was particularly vital to support smaller charities so we could make a real difference to their work.

"Kate Heyworth from our Harrogate store identified HELP and the Harrogate Homeless Project as two charities who would really benefit from our donation. We are delighted to be able to contribute to their frontline work."

Anna Woollven, Project Development Worker at HELP, said:

"With many people struggling in the wake of Covid-19, we are seeing lots of people turn to our trusted services. This fantastic donation will help ensure we can continue to be ‘Here to HELP’ those who need us at this challenging time. Thank you to Brora and its customers for their incredible generosity."

The charity face masks are still available to purchase either at Brora’s store on Prospect Crescent, Harrogate or on their website www.brora.co.uk
