Local charities set to benefit from Harrogate Christmas Fayre

Local charities are set to benefit from Harrogate Christmas Fayre thanks to operators Market Place Europe and Harrogate Borough Council.

Local charities are set to benefit from Harrogate Christmas Fayre thanks to operators Market Place Europe and Harrogate Borough Council. Keen to ensure local charities can raise their profile and generate funds for their good cause, the borough council have been working with Market Place Europe to provide a stall at the Christmas market from Friday 3 December until Sunday 12 December. Samaritans of Harrogate and District, Harrogate Town AFC Community Foundation, Bilton and Woodfield Community Library, Dementia Forward, Harrogate Skills 4 Living Centre, Harrogate Easier Living Project, Citizens Advice Craven and Harrogate Districts, Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity and Horticap are all set to use the stall to either sell products they produce or use it to provide more information to the thousands of visitors who are expected to visit. Hadyn Moorby-Davies, chief executive officer of Harrogate Skills 4 Living Centre, said:

"We are delighted that Market Place Europe and Harrogate Borough Council have allocated a stall at Harrogate Christmas Fayre to local charities. "It will allow us, and other local charities, to raise the profile of Harrogate Skills 4 Living Centre and the work we do. And also, hopefully, generate some funds that are very much needed. "I’d like to say thank you to both Market Place Europe and Harrogate Borough Council for their generosity and I look forward to meeting residents and visitors at the market next month."
The charities were identified through the council’s LOCAL LOTTO initiative. THE LOCAL LOTTO was launched as a way to raise additional funds for voluntary and community groups across the Harrogate district. https://twitter.com/Harrogatebc/status/1460207660444397569 Gemma Rio, Harrogate Borough Council’s head of destination management, said:
"Christmas is a time for giving and thinking about others, so I’m delighted that between ourselves and Market Place Europe we’ve been able to offer a stall at Harrogate Christmas Fayre to Harrogate district charities. "There is a lot of excitement building for the market, and we are anticipating thousands of people visiting Harrogate this festive period, so I’d like to thank Market Place Europe for donating a stall that will no doubt raise the profile of local charities and THE LOCAL LOTTO."
Harrogate Christmas Fayre is being organised by Market Place Europe, one the UK’s leading and award-winning Christmas market operator. The market will take place on Cambridge Street, Market Place, Station Square and Cambridge Crescent and will feature around 50 traders from Yorkshire, the UK as well as those from countries across Europe. The layout of stalls will also be designed to support existing high street businesses who are sure to benefit from the additional footfall the fayre is due to bring. The Fayre will also be a great place for visitors to pick up some last minute, unique gifts, along with mouth-watering treats, as they wander around taking in the festive sights and sounds. Nick Rhodes, chief executive of Market Place Europe, said:
"We are delighted to be able to offer a stall to Harrogate district charities at the first ever Harrogate Christmas Fayre. "Almost 50 coach companies are set to arrive across the 10 days, along with the thousands of Harrogate district residents and regional visitors, so it is anticipated that traders, local businesses and charities are going to benefit from the additional footfall the fayre will bring."
Opening hours of the Market are 10am - 7pm Monday to Wednesday, 10am - 9pm Thursday to Saturday, and 10.30am - 4.30pm on Sundays. A free festive road train – known as the Candy Cane Express – will also travel around the town centre from Friday 3rd December until Sunday 12th December to ensure people don’t miss out on what Harrogate town centre has to offer; whether that’s the Harrogate Christmas Fayre, the artisan market in the Valley Garden or the fantastic high street businesses.
