Hundreds gather to watch Glastonbury on big screen at Knaresborough Castle
An estimated 800 people gathered to watch Glastonbury on the big screen at Knaresborough Chamber's 'Party in the Castle' on Saturday (24th June).
The event was held between 5pm and 11pm at the Castle Top as residents watched Glastonbury on the big screen, with acts including Lewis Capaldi, Lizzo and Guns N' Roses performing. 'Party in the Castle' was organised through a collaboration between Knaresborough & District Chamber and North Yorkshire Council following a similar successful event for the King's Coronation last month. The Chamber received half of the money needed from the Council before holding a Crowdfunding campaign for the other £2,000. "Everything was absolutely fantastic from the weather to everything in between. "The crowd were brilliant, we had every age group there from very young to the ageing rockers who were there for Guns N’ Roses."And it seems this event won't be the last held at Knaresborough Castle - although residents may need to wait until next year. Kelly added:
"We’ll absolutely do another one! This is something I’ve dreamt of doing in Knaresborough for a long time. "We do have to fundraise through the community but we seem to have a community who want to do that. I’m going to start making plans to organise for next year."Check out some of the photos from the event taken by Mike Whorley here: https://www.facebook.com/knaresboroughct/posts/pfbid02VixPXXvojyKhKTFk5thwi6nadHVmb2KvzyDpBtQMG3mwRyNQqxXUJZatD37Rsnf3l 'Party in the Castle' was a not-for-profit community event. It was not endorsed by or affiliated with the BBC or Glastonbury Festival. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
