Harrogate Town heading back to Wembley as postponed cup final is given new date

Harrogate Town are heading back to Wembley after the FA released dates for the postponed 2019/20 FA Trophy final - but fans won't be able to attend.

Harrogate Town are heading back to Wembley after the FA released a new date for the postponed 2019/20 Buildbase FA Trophy final - but fans won't be able to attend. The club reached the final of the competition last season but saw the fixture, which was due to take place in September, postponed due to safety concerns around covid-19. And now the FA has released a new date for the match at Wembley Stadium, which will be played behind closed doors on Monday 3rd May 2021. [caption id="attachment_7669" align="alignnone" width="2048"] Manager Simon Weaver and Chairman Irving Weaver at Wembley Stadium last year[/caption] Harrogate Town Managing Director Garry Plant spoke of his disappointment that fans will be unable to attend:

“We were hoping the date of the final would be further along the lockdown restrictions pathway so supporters could have been there with us. “We had been pushing the FA for that to be the case, but have not been consulted and this date comes to us out of the blue. “We are deeply sorry for supporters who again will not get the chance to join us at Wembley, however we will be doing all we can to make arrangements that include the supporters and allow them to enjoy the final.”
A spokesperson for the FA said:
"Despite our best efforts to accommodate limited spectators, a suitable date was sadly not available and both the Buildbase FA Vase Final between Consett and Hebburn Town and Buildbase FA Trophy Final featuring Harrogate Town and Concord Rangers will be played behind closed doors."
