Harrogate Town allowing themselves to be excited as they edge towards confirming league status

Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver said the club are "allowing themselves to get excited" as they edge towards securing their League Two status.

Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver said the club are "allowing themselves to get excited" as they edge closer to securing their League Two status for next season. An upturn in form has seen the club climb the League Two table in recent weeks, with Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Barrow marking a third consecutive victory and taking Town up to 11th place. And Manager Simon Weaver has said they often allow themselves time to look ahead to next season and remaining in the football league. Simon Weaver said:

"We allow ourselves on the way back from away trips, for example the other night coming back from Barrow, we allow ourselves to be excited that we're 19 points from the bottom two. "We'll certainly raise a glass as and when we confirm our league status for next season."
Despite the club's form and the real possibility of securing a spot in the play-offs, Simon added that he's aware of the dangers of getting complacent:
"In terms of looking upwards, of course we're looking at the league table, but we've played a couple of games more than the teams around us so we're not getting overexcited. "I think if you get too excited and too wound up about it then you can have a blip and suddenly you lose back-to-back games and you're miles off the play-offs. We want to be in contention and have something to play for in the dying weeks of the season. "As long as we're in the hunt, and we're fully aware that all the focus is on the next game, then hopefully it'll be an exciting end to the season."

Speaking about their recent run of results in which they've won six of their last eight, Simon spoke highly of his January additions and how they've integrated into the squad:
"The lads have gelled well - the existing lads with the new players that were signed in January and they've just grown together as a unit. It's probably the first time we've brought in a batch of new players all at once. "They've integrated well and there's not a bad egg amongst them which is vital for us, and the confidence has grown. It's been a good last four or five weeks certainly.
