Harrogate Symphony Orchestra to livestream Christmas concert for first time

Harrogate's Symphony Orchestra (HSO) will be livestreaming their annual Christmas concert for the first time later this month.

Harrogate's Symphony Orchestra (HSO) will be livestreaming their annual Christmas concert for the first time later this month. The event will be held at the Royal Hall on Sunday 19th December - but will also be available online for those unable to attend. The orchestra have been invited to perform the world premiere of The Snowman Symphony by Howard Blake - a "great honour" for the orchestra according to Director Bryan Western. Bryan told Your Harrogate:

"The concert always involves a lot of people - but no children! We've been doing children’s concerts for many years at the Convention Centre but for the last two years we haven’t been able to do that. "So this year we thought we would do something special which will involve the children in a slightly different way.

"Because the tickets for the event at the Royal Hall have sold out, we wanted to get the event out to all the children and parents who will miss out, so we’re going to live stream it - which is very scary!"

The first half of the concert will involve performances of A Christmas Festival, Shepherd's Pipe Carol, A Christmas Overture, Silent Night and Reindeer on the Roof. The second half will then feature the world premier of The Snowman Symphony, accompanied by stills from the original animated film.
