Saint Michael's Hospice are launching their 'Make a Will Month' initiative that sees local solicitors waive fees throughout April.
People from across the Harrogate District are being given the opportunity to protect the people and things that matter most in support of a local hospice initiative this April. Saint Michael’s 'Make a Will Month', now in its eighth year, sees local participating solicitors waive their usual fees to allow people to make a will or amend a current will throughout April. People who take part can then donate to Saint Michael’s, supporting people living with terminal illness and bereavement across the Harrogate District. Make a Will Month is open to anyone aged 18 and over, and the scheme allows participants to make a basic or mirror will with a participating local solicitor – which usually costs between £190 and £350. Appointments are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. The initiative also gives people the opportunity to leave a gift in their will to Saint Michael’s, allowing the charity to provide care and support to people who need it most in the years to come. One in five patients at Saint Michael’s is cared for thanks to a gift left in a will. Saint Michael’s Chief Executive Tony Collins said:
"Whether those across our community are making a will for the first time, or updating their will, Saint Michael’s Make a Will Month is there for them to protect the people and things that matter most this April, at key stages in their lives, such as becoming grandparents, having children or moving house. "Appointments with participating solicitors are limited, and we are encouraging people to register their interest as soon as possible. We are also grateful to local solicitors who generously support our Make a Will Month.
